Tap

Tap has come a long way over the years and is nothing like the “silver shoes” tapping you may be thinking of!  The NZAMD syllabus which DDA teaches is an American style of tap dancing, very much like street tap (which happens to be very suited to boys too!).  As the grades progress, as do the rhythms and it develops into some very cool, complex sounds!  Tap is such a special style of dancing – making magical sounds with your feet!  Come and catch the tap bug with us!  Once enrolled in a tap class, there are opportunities to be invited into our competition team.

While there is no set uniform for our classes, tap dancing students must wear appropriate clothing so the teacher can see the knees – either tights or shorts.

Tap shoe hire is available, however, students from grade 3 and above are encouraged to purchase their own shoes to make practice at home easier.
